The May 6th three-hour AEW Dynamite/Collision combo show keeps stacking up, and two more matches just got added to the card.
During the May 2nd edition of Collision, AEW announced a Continental Title Eliminator match is officially booked for the special broadcast. No small stakes there — whoever wins that one is next in line for the title.
On the women’s side, Hikaru Shida and Kris Statlander are teaming up against Mina Shirakawa and Harley Cameron. That match has some real heat behind it going in.
Statlander was visibly furious after she and Shida came up short against The Divine Dominion on the most recent Dynamite. Shida took accountability and told Statlander she would make it right. So now they get their shot to actually do that — together — against two members of the same faction that just beat them.
Shida has been one of the most consistent performers in AEW’s women’s division for years. Multiple AEW Women’s World Championship reigns, a reputation as one of the best in-ring workers the company has, and a fanbase that genuinely respects her output. Statlander has had her own run of momentum lately, and the tension between these two heading into a tag match adds a layer that makes it more than just filler.
Mina Shirakawa has been finding her footing in AEW after making a serious impression on the roster. Harley Cameron continues to be one of the more entertaining personalities on the show, and The Divine Dominion as a unit has been a real thorn in the side of the women’s division. Beating Shida and Statlander again would do a lot for their credibility. Losing would give the babyface side something to build on heading into whatever comes next.
The Continental Title Eliminator adds some serious weight to the show on the men’s or mixed side depending on the bracket. AEW has been using the Continental Title picture to keep mid-card feuds feeling meaningful, and an eliminator match on a three-hour special is exactly the kind of placement that tells you someone is being pushed into a real spot.
Three hours of combined Dynamite and Collision content means AEW has a lot of real estate to fill on May 6th. These two additions bring more structure to what was already shaping up to be a loaded night. The Shida and Statlander situation alone is worth watching closely — whether they actually get on the same page or implode trying will tell you a lot about where both women are headed this summer.
More matches are expected to be announced before the show airs.
