The May 2nd episode of Lucha Libre AAA on FOX closed out with a contract signing for what is shaping up to be one of the wilder mask matches on the calendar.
The Original El Grande Americano, Chad Gable, and El Grande Americano 2, Ludwig Kaiser, are both locked in for a Mask versus Mask match at Noche de Los Grandes on May 30th. That match just got a lot more personal.
During the contract signing segment, the Creed Brothers showed up and jumped Gable. No warning. No buildup. Just straight violence to close the show.
That attack puts a whole new layer on everything heading into May 30th. Gable is already walking into a mask match where losing means unmasking in front of the AAA audience, and now he has to worry about whether the Creeds are going to be lurking around ringside when the night actually comes.
The Mask versus Mask stipulation is as serious as it gets in lucha libre. It is not a gimmick. It is not a special attraction. In AAA, masks carry real weight, and putting yours on the line means everything is at stake. For Gable, who has been working this El Grande Americano character, losing that mask would be a significant moment no matter what company you are talking about.
Kaiser coming in as El Grande Americano 2 has been one of the more entertaining ongoing bits in AAA’s FOX run. The idea of two guys both claiming the same identity now fighting over who gets to keep existing under that name is genuinely creative, and the mask match format gives it a real finish line.
The Creed Brothers getting involved changes the math though. If they have aligned with Kaiser or have their own beef with Gable, that is a problem Gable cannot ignore going into the biggest match of this particular story.
AAA on FOX has been quietly building something with these characters, and the contract signing angle with the Creed Brothers ambush was the kind of closing segment that actually makes you want to tune in next week. It was chaotic, it advanced the story, and it gave the May 30th match genuine heat.
Noche de Los Grandes is shaping up to have real stakes at the top of the card. Gable versus Kaiser in a Mask versus Mask match with the Creed Brothers now in the picture is not something you are going to want to skip.
