Kevin Owens is going to be at the NXT Great American Bash tailgate event before the main show even kicks off.
The 2026 NXT Great American Bash Premium Live Event goes down on June 28th at the WWE Performance Center, and WWE is doing a full tailgate experience before the show starts. There’s also a watch party running alongside the event itself. Owens is confirmed to appear during the pre-show portion of that setup.
This is an interesting spot for KO right now. He’s been one of the most prominent names on the main roster for years, bouncing between feuds with top guys and staying in the title picture more often than not. Having him show up at an NXT event — even in a tailgate capacity — signals that WWE sees some value in bridging that main roster star power with their developmental brand.
NXT has been working hard to rebuild its identity since moving to The CW. The Great American Bash is one of those marquee event names that carries real nostalgia weight, going all the way back to the old Jim Crockett Promotions days before WWE eventually revived it. Getting a main roster name like Owens attached to the festivities, even pre-show, gives the whole thing a bigger feel.
Owens himself has history with NXT that goes deeper than most. He had one of the most memorable NXT Championship reigns ever, and his run through developmental before exploding onto the main roster is still talked about as one of the better call-up stories of the past decade. The crowd at the Performance Center is going to go nuts seeing him in that building.
The June 23rd episode of NXT on The CW was building toward Great American Bash, and the card is shaping up to be a significant show for the brand. Adding Owens to the pre-show tailgate atmosphere gives fans a reason to show up early and get locked in before the bell rings.
