Trick Williams Is Winning WWE Over and Lil Yachty Is Too

Trick Williams is making noise behind the scenes in WWE, and not in a bad way.

According to WrestleVotes via Fightful Select, Williams has made a strong internal impression within the company. His recent performances have been drawing praise from the people inside WWE who matter, and his hometown reaction specifically got attention from those paying close attention.

That tracks. Trick has been one of the most naturally over guys in NXT for a while now. The crowd just connects with him in a way you can’t manufacture. He’s got the look, the charisma, and the in-ring ability to back it up. When someone like that starts getting recognized internally, it usually means the conversation about his future is shifting.

Trick came up through NXT running alongside Carmelo Hayes before eventually stepping out of that shadow and becoming NXT Champion himself. That run proved he could carry a brand. The question for a lot of fans has been whether WWE’s main roster would see what NXT already figured out. Sounds like they might be getting there.

The other piece of this report is just as interesting.

Lil Yachty, the rapper who appeared in a WWE storyline, apparently earned real respect backstage for how seriously he took the whole thing. Per the same report, he got positive feedback for his dedication to the role. That’s not nothing. WWE has had plenty of celebrity appearances that felt hollow or thrown together. When someone from outside the wrestling world actually puts in effort and doesn’t treat it like a quick promo appearance, it gets noticed.

Yachty’s involvement connected with a younger audience and gave the segment a different energy than your typical celebrity crossover. The fact that the people backstage walked away impressed suggests it wasn’t just a one-and-done situation where he showed up, smiled for the camera, and left. He actually committed.

Celebrity involvement in wrestling is always a mixed bag. Some guys get it and some guys clearly don’t want to be there. Yachty apparently fell into the first category, which means the door could stay open for more down the line if WWE wants to revisit it.

As for Trick Williams, the timing of this report is worth paying attention to. WWE has been building toward bigger things for him, and when internal buzz lines up with strong crowd reactions, that’s usually when pushes get real. Fans who have been watching Trick since his NXT days know exactly what he’s capable of. If the main roster is starting to see it too, things could move quickly.

Keep an eye on how Trick is used over the next few months. The internal praise is one thing, but how WWE acts on it is what actually counts. He has the tools to be a major player. Whether he gets the runway to show it on the biggest stage is the next question.
